SBIR acceptance

Tokyo, Japan. 1 Sep 2023, 13PM JST
NABLA Mobility Inc. (Chiyoda-ku Tokyo, CEO: Shinji Tanaka, “NABLA Mobility”, “Company”) announced its acceptance into the highly regarded Japanese Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program's phase one for 2023 (End-to-End Approach) (“SBIR program”), expertly managed by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (“NEDO”). This pivotal opportunity will allow NABLA Mobility to accelerate its pioneering efforts in transforming the aviation sector toward a more sustainable future.

NABLA Mobility has demonstrated its commitment to innovation by proposing a comprehensive research topic for the SBIR program: “Development of an operational optimization platform for airlines to accelerate aviation decarbonization.” As the aviation industry grapples with the challenges of carbon emissions, NABLA Mobility is at the forefront of engineering solutions that drive environmental stewardship without compromising operational efficiency.

The SBIR program, spearheaded by the Japanese government, is designed to propel research and development within research-oriented startups, driving solutions for dynamic societal challenges. This initiative not only focuses on fostering innovation but also on seamlessly integrating research outcomes into society through cross-ministerial collaboration. The project will be executed through two approaches: an 'End-to-End' method where all phases, including the initial research and development (POC, FS) as Phase 1, and practical development support as Phase 2, are conducted within the company; or a 'Linked' method, connecting to designated grant programs and initiatives conducted by relevant government ministries and agencies.

NABLA Mobility has been selected for the End-to-End method SBIR Program’s Phase 1 and will receive a variety of support during the upcoming one-year project period. In addition, by passing the stage gate screening at the end of Phase 1, the company will be eligible to receive additional business support for approximately two years (Phase 2).

Phase one of the program is set to commence in the third quarter of 2023, extending through the fourth quarter of the following year. During this period, NABLA Mobility will tirelessly work towards materializing its operational optimization platform, leveraging cutting-edge technology and a profound understanding of the aviation landscape.

NABLA Mobility remains committed to leveraging our ML/AI-based predictive and optimization technologies, which are our strengths, to unravel the complexity of aviation operations. Through enhancing the operational resilience of airlines, we will continue to support the global aviation industry in its decarbonization efforts.
