Overview
Launched publicly on 6 October 2023, Untangle API enables your existing software to provide more situational awareness to pilots. Allow pilots to avoid previously unseen turbulence by increasing the value of the weather data you provide. Turbulence data can be contextualized for individual flights by fetching data for specific times, specific altitudes, and producing EDR levels specific to an individual aircraft’s model weight.
Turbulence data for every flight.
Fetch altitudes, times, and weight
Increase trust in your software
Untangle API is a validated way to increase safety. This leads to more resilient airline operations, smoother passenger experience, and a higher quality of service. Airline decarbonization efforts benefit from entire fleets eliminating excessive detours.
7-14x more turbulence vs the VWS model
Get started
Untangle API is ready to integrate into EFB software platforms, flight planning software, as well as defense and civil aviation systems.
Launch features
Built to provide direct integration of Untangle features to your software, this first version of Untangle API delivers all of the capabilities of our turbulence prediction model:
Turbulence prediction
60 hours of prediction, minimum
Predictions that include CAT and MWT
High resolution data (0.25 degrees)
Global coverage
FL50 to FL450
7-14x improved accuracy vs VWS models
Turbulence avoidance
Cruise phase altitude optimization
Specifications
At launch, the capabilities of Untangle API are:
Aerial data:
Weather data from a top down perspective, called from a specific time, FL and area.Sequential data:
Weather data in cross section, corresponding to the path of a flight.EDR by weight:
EDR levels adapted to the weight of an individual aircraft.Aerial GeoJSON:
Top view GeoJSON weather data, ready to be visualized on a map.Cruise phase altitude optimization:
Optimized altitudes for the cruise phase, based on forecasted weather data and aircraft gross weight.
Long term support
As we add features, future versions of Untangle API will maintain backwards compatible for as long as possible. It has been designed to retain the same endpoints over time, while new features will be added by appending new endpoints.
